In 2021, NYSDOT began a design-build project to reconstruct the Route 1 bridge over the Mamaroneck River in Mamaroneck, Westchester County. The project also includes the replacement of a “pocket park" at the entrance to Harbor Island Park. MJA’s community liaison is in close communication with municipalities, prepares presentations about the project for the community, and provides timely updates on upcoming work in the area. MJA’s outreach team also ensures that access to Harbor Island Park, especially for community events, are not impacted by construction. The community liaison also coordinated with local residents and businesses in preparation for construction, and keeps all parties abreast of activities and impacts.
