NYCDOT 149th Street over Amtrak and CSX

In 2019, the New York City Department of Transportation initiated the rehabilitation of 149th Street over Amtrak and CSX. The bridge carries two lanes of traffic and sidewalks in each direction, and is used by truck traffic entering the Hunts Point markets.

Community Outreach

Melissa Johnson Associates facilitates communication with local businesses on 149th Street approaching the bridge, and communicates traffic pattern changes to motorists accessing the area. Given the bridge’s close access to Hunts Point, the community liaison also facilitates communication with representatives from the markets to push out necessary travel information to stakeholders. On behalf of NYCDOT, MJA also attends a variety of community meetings, communicates with the city council and state assembly, and coordinates detours with other nearby capital projects.
