The South Battery Park City Resiliency project (SBPCR) is part of the Lower Manhattan Coastal Resiliency Program, designed to protect the Robert Wagner Park and the adjacent community against more severe and frequent storms. The project focuses on reducing flood risk due to coastal storms and sea level rise in Manhattan’s Battery Park City from the Museum of Jewish Heritage to the north border of the Battery.
Melissa Johnson Associates has developed the community and stakeholder outreach strategy for the construction phase of the SBPCR project. Through this extensive outreach effort, the construction team will engage with the community in a variety of ways during the two- year effort to create a more resilient Battery Park City.
The dedicated project community liaison will work with Battery Park City stakeholders, listen to the community, and address community needs. The goal of the outreach strategy is to ensure that stakeholder needs and concerns are communicated to the project team throughout the duration of construction.
The outreach strategy includes numerous approaches designed to work jointly as part of an open, accessible, and transparent construction project that creates engaging and interesting collaborations, and empowers the community through an ongoing and cyclical outreach process. The dedicated community liaison will be available to the community and stakeholders to share communication from Battery Park City Authority and the project team, ensuring a meaningful dialog and transparency within the project.
