The New York State Department of Transportation has initiated the Van Wyck Expressway Capacity and Access Improvements Project (Contract 2), an undertaking to retrofit and replace four Long Island Rail Road bridges and modify the Atlantic Avenue bridge over the Van Wyck Expressway near Jamaica Station in Queens. The Van Wyck Expressway northbound and southbound service roads from the Archer and Atlantic Avenue North bridge will also be reconstructed, and the Atlantic Avenue superstructures and substructures will be replaced.
