NYSDOT Active Transportation

The New York State Department of Transportation’s (NYSDOT) Office of Traffic Safety and Mobility is updating the NYSDOT’s Transportation Choices for the 21st Century – The New York State Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan, 1997 and the NYSDOT’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Policy, April 20, 2010, to provide policy and implementation level direction, guidance, and performance measures to help guide future investment decisions.

Melissa Johnson Associates is responsible for community outreach to stakeholders throughout the Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island to gather input from community members on ways to improve active transportation throughout New York State. We provide direct outreach and coordination for public meetings and attend public events, fairs, and festivals to gather public input about the ways walking and biking can be safer and more accessible for the public. As part of the overall Active Transportation team, MJA coordinates closely with the project teams working in other counties and areas throughout New York State to ensure that our activities are aligned and conducted in a timely manner.
