On behalf of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), Melissa Johnson Associates is providing stakeholder engagement services to residents of the Wilson Houses in East Harlem for the Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) program. PACT allows NYCHA to receive funding to complete comprehensive repairs at the development while ensuring permanent affordability. Improvements include, but are not limited to, the modernization of homes through renovations, investment in community spaces, amenities, programs, and property management. Resident participation is an essential component to shape the renovations. Residents are included in all phases of the project, starting with the selection of the development partner, creation of detailed plans for repairs and upgrades, and community services for the duration of the project.
MJA is managing the resident participation and stakeholder engagement process, which is an integral part of upgrading the facility over the next several years. We are reaching out directly to all residents and providing them with the opportunity to share their thoughts on renovations and the needs of the community. Additionally, our team meets monthly with the tenant associations to gather feedback and discuss topics, including construction, project timeline, security, and social services provisions. MJA provides walk thoughts of the properties with residents to identify and understand the most pressing issues. To ensure that residents are informed at all times, we are also utilizing various forms of correspondence, creating a project-specific website, and managing a 24/7 hotline where residents are able to share their thoughts and receive feedback from our team.
