NYCHA PACT: Moore and E. 152nd Street-Courtlandt

On behalf of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), Melissa Johnson Associates is providing community outreach and engagement services to residents of the Moore Houses and 152nd-Street Courtlandt Avenue developments, located in the Bronx, for the Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) program. PACT allows NYCHA to receive funding to complete comprehensive repairs at the development while ensuring permanent affordability. Improvements include the modernization of homes through renovations, investment in community spaces, amenities, programs, and property management. Resident participation is an essential component that shapes the renovations. Residents are included in all phases of the project, beginning with the selection of the development team, creation of detailed plans for repairs and upgrades, and community services.

MJA is responsible for the resident participation and engagement processes. MJA directly engages all residents and provides them with the opportunity to share their thoughts on renovations and the needs of the community. Additionally, MJA meets monthly with tenant associations to gather feedback and discuss topics related to construction, project timeline, security, and social services provisions. MJA provides walk-throughs of the properties with residents in “walk shops” to identify and understand the most pressing issues. To ensure that residents are informed at all times, we utilize various forms of correspondence, creating a project website, and managing a 24/7 hotline where residents can share their feedback and ask questions.
