New York City is currently transforming underutilized waterfront along the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway, a 32-mile route around Manhattan. The East River Esplanade is a segment of the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway situated along the East River adjacent to FDR Drive and Harlem River Drive. The area located between East 94th Street and East 107th Streets, and between East 118th Street and East 124th Streets, part of an area known as the Bobby Wagner Walk, as well as the East 107th Street pier, are being rehabilitated through a partnership between the New York City Economic Development Corporation and NYC Parks.
Melissa Johnson Associates is part of the community engagement and stakeholder outreach team for the project, which includes both virtual, in-person and pop-up engagement opportunities geared toward soliciting feedback from stakeholders on programming for the waterfront’s design during the conceptual design and final design phases.
