The Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority has initiated a project for the cleaning and painting of the Queens approach to the Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Bridge. The Queens approach to the bridge is located in Astoria, in a busy mixed-use community of residences, businesses, parks and schools that is traveled by motorists, transit users, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Melissa Johnson Associates is supporting the construction team with community outreach and engagement to keep the community informed about ongoing impacts to parking, park access, detours and road closures, the project’s work schedule, various types of work operations, and impacts to daily routines and norms. The project’s community liaison coordinates closely with MTA and TBTA to ensure that the project’s outreach is proactive, and to field inquiries from the press and the general public.
