MTA Communication Based Train Control Crosstown Line “B” Division

The Metropolitan Transit Authority has initiated a project to replace the existing fixed-block relay-based signal system on the New York City Transit Crosstown Line (between Court Square station and Church Avenue station) with a Train Control System based on Communication Based Train Control that operates under MTA’s Interoperability Interface Specification. The contract also includes a provision for physical rooms or enclosures in stations on the Crosstown Line to house TCS equipment that supports the new Train Control System.

Melissa Johnson Associates is responsible for outreach to MTA customers impacted by construction at the stations on the Crosstown Line, including advising about changes in subway service and access to the station. The team develops signage, construction bulletins, newsletters and other communication materials to assist MTA with communicating to the general public about work ongoing inside and outside of the stations.

Major stakeholders are updated regularly on the progress of the project. MJA is responsible for developing presentations as well as digital and print project communication materials for elected officials, community boards, and their constituents.
