MTA ADA Upgrades Package 4

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is making historic investments into stations across the five boroughs as a part of its long-term commitment to systemwide accessibility. As a part of this initiative, new elevators and service elements are being installed at Parkchester-East 177th Street station in the Bronx,137th Street-City College station in Manhattan, Northern Boulevard station in Queens, and Bay Ridge-95th Street station in Brooklyn. Upgrades include elevator installations and repairs, escalator installations, stairs and sidewalk rehabilitation, reconstruction of platform edges, installation of tactile tiles, and state-of-good repair and utility improvements.

Melissa Johnson Associates is managing public outreach on behalf of MTA and the design-build team for these improvements. On behalf of the project team, MJA coordinates and communicates with local residents and businesses through grassroots outreach, signage, construction bulletins, notifications and email blasts. MJA’s Outreach Project Manager develops assists the MTA’s Government and Community Relations staff with outreach to elected officials and community boards, and is responsible for developing presentations and outreach materials. MJA also assists with notifying the traveling public, including motorists, transit users, pedestrians and cyclists, of street level impacts including detours, sidewalk closures, and staircase or escalator closures at stations.
