The New York State Department of Transportation has started the design phase for the Rehabilitation and Replacement of Five Cross Bronx Expressway (CBE) Bridges between Boston Road and Rosedale Avenue, a future design-build project. The project proposes the replacement of four bridges to achieve 75 years of service life, and the rehabilitation of the Boston Road bridge, extending service life by 40 years. Additionally, the project creates a new multimodal community connector roadway and a new southbound Bronx River Parkway ramp to the westbound Cross Bronx Expressway.
Melissa Johnson Associates is responsible for developing the project’s community engagement program, including a project website, fact sheets, newsletters, public meeting publicity materials, social media posts, media releases, newspaper public notices, and responses to comments as part of the NEPA process.
MJA also leads the organization and coordination of public meetings with environmental justice community representatives and other local organizations; supports project briefings for key stakeholders and community boards; and leads the coordination and public notification process for the project’s NEPA public hearing.
