In 2023, the New York City Department of Design and Construction initiated the reconstruction of Manhattan City Hall Steps, an architectural landmark used often as a backdrop for public events. The project's design takes into consideration the historic design, and also integrates ADA accessibility with a new lift, ramp and walkway and ADA handrails.
MJA's community construction liaison provides weekly updates during construction to all major stakeholders, including City Hall, building employees, elected officials and the community board, and the general public. The liaison is also responsible for managing incoming inquiries, developing project materials for meetings and distribution, and general outreach to stakeholders. MJA also assists DDC with achieving project goals, including the display of children's art on the construction barrier.
