In 2021, the New York City Department of Transportation initiated the design phase of work for the Markwood Road bridge over Jackie Robinson Parkway in Queens. Located adjacent to the Kew Gardens Interchange, this bridge structure is located on a busy local road over a major arterial roadway in Queens. Numerous bridge strikes have resulted in damage to the structure, requiring rehabilitation to extend the bridge's life until the next complete bridge replacement.
MJA is responsible for issuing the initial planning statement letters, outreach to the local community and stakeholder for design-related surveying and field activities, and coordination with other adjacent projects, including MJA's Kew Gardens Interchange Project. Our outreach team coordinates with community boards, elected officials, city agencies, and stakeholders to ensure that the design team's activities are communicated to the public and to other interested agency partners.
